This Week's Resource

Geography
Sketch Mapping your Local Area
For this week’s freebie, I’ve included a sketch map lesson plan to help children explore their local area in a fun, practical, and creative way. By heading outside and observing what they can see around them, children can begin to think like young geographers. Noticing landmarks, routes, and important features in their environment. They can then return home and turn their ideas into a finished sketch map of their local area. It’s a lovely activity for building geography skills while making learning feel active and meaningful.
Send their Work in!
If you use this lesson idea, I would genuinely love to see what your child/children create. Please do email your finished sketch maps over to me. I’d love to have a look, and with your permission, I’d also share some of them on my social media.

What is the Home Ed Hub?
Hello from me!
My name is Chloe. I am a qualified teacher with 12 years of experience and a Master’s in Education. I bring the structure, subject knowledge, and professionalism of the classroom into a calm environment where learners feel safe, understood, and able to thrive. I call this space the Home Ed Hub.
At The Home Ed Hub, I offer both in-person and online 1:1 sessions in English, Maths, and Science, supporting children aged 5–18 throughout their home education journey.
Alongside this, I provide after-school tutoring for children who attend school and would benefit from additional support, consolidation, or exam preparation.
I also deliver Functional Skills Maths sessions for young adults, offering a supportive and practical pathway to gaining a recognised qualification. These sessions are ideal for those returning to education, preparing for employment, or seeking an alternative route to GCSE Maths.
Alongside my 1:1 tutoring and home education sessions, I also offer supportive online memberships for both parents and educators.
The Home Ed Starter Guide is designed for families who are home educating (or considering it) and want clear, practical guidance, subject resources and a community space to feel less alone.
The Educator Hub supports tutors and teachers who are setting up or growing their own independent learning provision, with guidance, legal overviews, templates and business support. Both spaces have been created to provide honest, grounded help. The kind I wish more people had access to when navigating alternative education pathways.

**The Home Ed Hub is an independent tutoring and learning provider. I am legally able to deliver educational sessions; however, I am not a school and do not provide full-time education. My sessions form one part of a child’s overall learning journey, and parents remain fully responsible for their child’s education in line with UK home education legislation.

ART CLASSES
Alongside academic support, I offer relaxed and welcoming watercolour workshops and 1:1 art sessions for children and adults. These sessions are designed to build confidence, develop technique, and create space to slow down and enjoy the process.
Watercolour Workshops
Seasonal workshops run throughout the year, with small group sizes to ensure individual guidance and a calm atmosphere. Each workshop focuses on:
• Step-by-step watercolour techniques
• Layering, blending and brush control
• Building confidence with colour
Workshops are suitable for beginners and those looking to refine their skills. No previous experience is needed - just a willingness to try.
1:1 Watercolour Classes
For those who would like more personalised guidance, I offer individual watercolour tuition.
These sessions are ideal for:
• Children developing artistic skills
• Young people building portfolios
• Adults returning to art
• Anyone wanting focused, structured creative time
Each lesson is tailored to the individual, balancing technical skill development with creative freedom.
