Maths through Making: The Shape World
Maths through Making: The Shape World
Create an Imaginative World Using Four Simple Shapes in this Live Creative Session
More Information
The Shape World Challenge | Tuesday 24th March 2026 A live creative session for home educated children (ages 6–12) In this relaxed online session, children will build their own imaginative world using just four simple shapes: circles, squares, rectangles and triangles. With gentle step-by-step guidance, I’ll demonstrate how these basic shapes can be transformed into cities, jungles, underwater scenes, space worlds and more. There’s no right or wrong — just creativity! As we create together, children will naturally explore how shapes can be rotated, combined and repeated to form something entirely new. Older children can add their own design rules and patterns, while younger ones can focus on building and colouring their world. At the end of the session, children are invited (if they’d like) to hold up their finished creations and share their Shape World. The session will be recorded so families can access it later if they’re unable to attend live. Cameras are completely optional. Children are very welcome to simply sit back and enjoy the session without any pressure to participate. If they’d like to share their creations at the end, they’re welcome to, but there is absolutely no expectation. This session is accessible and suitable for a wide range of ages. Perfect for children who enjoy drawing, designing and thinking creatively. It’s also a gentle approach to maths, making it ideal for children who experience maths anxiety, have had difficult experiences with maths in the past, or simply struggle to engage with traditional maths lessons. Free for Parent Hub members | £5 for non-members
